Ms. Abby Roderick joined SMS, Inc. from Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center. A hospital safety and compliance professional for over 10 years, Abby served as Rush’s Life Safety Officer and Hospital Safety Officer during her tenure at the prestigious, 676 bed/4.5 million square foot academic medical center.While at Rush, Abby’s vast array of responsibilities included coordination of the entire Safety Management Program with specific responsibility for the Environment of Care® standards including hospital wide compliance audits and risk assessments. She provided oversight related to all aspects of the organizations Life Safety programs, including routine inspections, fire drills and management of the Statement of Conditions™ process. In this role, Abby served as Rush’s Life Safety liaison with The Joint Commission®, Illinois Department of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Chicago Fire Department. She developed and implemented Life Safety policies which included institutional fire plan, hot work, fire watch and Interim Life Safety Measures.
In her current role as Staff Consultant, Roderick draws upon her intimate familiarity with the codes and standards associated with agencies such as The Joint Commission, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) ® and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) while providing clients with Comprehensive Life Safety Building Analysis, preparation and management of the Statement of Conditions process, Life Safety Mock Survey, Physical Environment program audits and related Safety Management consultations. Abby holds a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Health, Magna Cum Laude from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. |
